James S. McDonnell Planetarium

The James S. McDonnell Planetarium, located in Forest Park in St. Louis Missouri, is part of the St. Louis Science Center and are connected by an enclosed bridge across highway 64/40. It is an important space education facilities in the United States. It features unique exhibits, one being "The Boeing Space Station", that shows how astronauts live and work on the International Space Station. Another special feature of the Planetarium is the Orthwein StarBay. The Orthwein StarBay features a program called "The Sky Tonight", that has the ability to project more than 9,000 stars onto the dome ceiling that illustrates what that current day's night sky would look like, all without the interference of city lights, pollution or weather! Visitors can also view meteor showers, eclipses and other night sky phenomenon at the Planetarium. On every first Friday of each month, the St. Louis Astronomical Society hosts a public telescope viewing at the Planetarium and "The Sky Tonight" program in the Orthwein StarBay, all free of charge!

Admission to the Planetarium is free, but there is an admission fee to view the special, age appropriate shows.
